Vikings is defined by Merriam & Webster as a group of Scandinavian people who attacked the coasts of Europe in the 8th to 10th centuries A.D., today, they invaded the hearts of many Filipinos and opened a luxury-buffet restaurant here in Manila. They offer Filipino & International cuisine. Along with my dad & MJ of The Safari Street, this is where we spent our 2nd anniversary.

A wide variety to select from – appetizers to fish & other seafood are guaranteed fresh,  lamb & other beef cooked on your choosing (ex. rare, medium rare, well done), a whole section of Asian/Japanese cuisine, thin crust pizza’s, drooling desserts, premium beers, coffee, cold drinks such as four seasons, mango and other fruit juices (everything is free flowing!) – to name a few!

* The cuisine was great! I love eating here, so many selections to choose from and the buffet trays are always filled up! One of the best place to dine in with family and friends. Two thumbs up! (will surely return!) ^_^

The buffet area is indeed luxurious and the dining area is cozy and elegant! Too bad we had to leave early for work, wish we could have stayed longer and enjoyed the rest of the day :-/

Vikings (Luxury Buffet) is located at Bldg. B, By The Bay, Seaside Boulevard, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City, Philippines.

If you are planning to dine here, I strongly suggest that you call them a week ahead and reserve a seat at 846-3888, 846-4888, 846-5888, 0917-5653888 & 0923-7303888.

The date was June 12, 2012 and we had three (3) occasions on hand. It was my mom’s **th birthday, 114th  commemoration of Philippine independence and our 1-year 9th month anniversary. We decided to celebrate it at Hap Chan Tea House here in Las Pinas City.

We were first served with the usual complimentary tea (which I forgot to take a shot, sorry!). I had a bad case of ingestion the day before – the tea help ease it out. For our drinks, we had the following –

My mom – her favorite iced lemon tea

 Diana had an iced lemonade

and I had a mango shake…

Our menu consists of the following…

For the dessert, we had…

(served steamed!)

and we had to have a take out (yummy!)…

My mom was happy and loved the food (us too!). The staff was nice and friendly (thanks!).

It was learnt that by end of May, two of Diana’s college friends is leaving for Singapore to pursue their career. To celebrate this much anticipated event , a get together was organize last 26th of May 2012. Diana suggested in having dinner on Yabu: The House of Katsu at SM Megamall.

After choosing from the menu, a small bowl will be served ,in it, which seemed like heated (burnt) dry sesame seeds. It’s customary to create your own sauce.

Catching up while waiting – the restaurant itself was simple, spacious and elegant. A great place to dine in.

Diana ordered the Chicen Katsu (3/4 inch thick chicken breast fillet, serving choices: Chicken 90g, 120g and 180g).

I ordered the Seafood Katsu Set (Black tiger prawn, scallop, cream Dory, oyster, squid).

*The meal was great! It comes with fruits, vegetables, unlimited rice and cabbage.  A heavy meal with sides that are light and healthy.

Time to eat!!!

Looking forward to dropping by hear again! O_o

“when I was a child, I dreamt of putting up a restaurant with my mom’s name on it. so this is it…”

– Melissa ‘Mel’ Galvez-Borja

Owner of Muchas Gracias restaurant

On February 14, 2012, Mel realized her dream and opened Muchas Gracias in the City of San Fernando at La Union. What drawn me to check out this new place, was not only of their unique menu selection(s) but the owner is one of the primary “Chef”! Mel definitely cooks and rest assured that each bite will satisfy your palette (even make you crave for more!)

Here are a few selection at Muchas Gracias –

Halo Halo (with home made pastillas bits) – ang sarap!

dinuguan and cheese quesadilla

vigan sausage and cheese quesadilla

Okoy – masarap na pulutan!

Pancit Bihon – best seller for meryenda!

Grilled Tuna sandwich

Hawaiian/Korean Barbeque (on stick) served with country style fries, rice, green salad and iced tea

Grilled Fillet of Tuna served with country style fries, rice, green salad and iced tea

Grilled Tuna Belly – my personal favorite! the taste was distinct!

Bibingkang Galapong – In classic, blueberry and halo-halo flavor!

Mel honed her cooking skills by attending cooking classes, seminars (including training sessions at Mandarin Oriental, Makati) locally and abroad.  She’s a former owner (part owner) of Halo-Halo De Iloko in its early years.

Muchas Gracias currently has a summer promo (until May 2012), Halo-Halo all you can for P75.00!

Look at what I did for my personalized halo-halo (Had 3 rounds! hehehe)

How to get to there: You may drop of at the plaza (highlighted in green) and take a trike to Muchas Gracias (P. Burgos St. corner Zandueta St.)

Muchas Gracias also does catering services for all occasions

You may also contact Mel for any inquires at (072) 607-8613 or 09206544497
