The date was June 12, 2012 and we had three (3) occasions on hand. It was my mom’s **th birthday, 114th  commemoration of Philippine independence and our 1-year 9th month anniversary. We decided to celebrate it at Hap Chan Tea House here in Las Pinas City.

We were first served with the usual complimentary tea (which I forgot to take a shot, sorry!). I had a bad case of ingestion the day before – the tea help ease it out. For our drinks, we had the following –

My mom – her favorite iced lemon tea

 Diana had an iced lemonade

and I had a mango shake…

Our menu consists of the following…

For the dessert, we had…

and we had to have a take out (yummy!)…

My mom was happy and loved the food (us too!). The staff was nice and friendly (thanks!).

It was learnt that by end of May, two of Diana’s college friends is leaving for Singapore to pursue their career. To celebrate this much anticipated event , a get together was organize last 26th of May 2012. Diana suggested in having dinner on Yabu: The House of Katsu at SM Megamall.

After choosing from the menu, a small bowl will be served ,in it, which seemed like heated (burnt) dry sesame seeds. It’s customary to create your own sauce.

Catching up while waiting – the restaurant itself was simple, spacious and elegant. A great place to dine in.

Diana ordered the Chicen Katsu (3/4 inch thick chicken breast fillet, serving choices: Chicken 90g, 120g and 180g).

I ordered the Seafood Katsu Set (Black tiger prawn, scallop, cream Dory, oyster, squid).

*The meal was great! It comes with fruits, vegetables, unlimited rice and cabbage.  A heavy meal with sides that are light and healthy.

Time to eat!!!

We decided to have dinner at Giligan’s Island after watching the “comedy-horror” flick Segunda Mano.

We ordered their Groupies special (good for 6 for P1,053.00)

1/4 Garlic Fried Chicken

Sizzling Sisig

Grilled Bangus Belly

Pork Humba

Sinigang na Hipon

Served with 2 platters of rice and 6 glasses of iced tea

The food was delicious and it was served on time.

Had a great night, missed this guys/gals and had a lot of laughs! Wish thou that many will come next time!

After enjoying their *Passion Fish and **Shrimp Divine during our first visit at their branch at Atrium, Megamall, we were craving for more!

*Passion Fish is a parmesan-breaded fish fillet with a garlic dip and choice of fries or rice.

** Shrimply Divine is a light creamy pasta with pesto and shrimps.

The atmosphere in their dining area is indeed cozy and comfortable. Bigby’s international concept with a wide array of meal choices in the menu presents a great adventure for your palate.

the Tijuana Quesadillas, a taste teaser

The ultimate hot and crisp flour tortilla with garlic and cheese, served with salsa fresca.

The garlic and cheese were well balanced, the salsa well complimented the tortilla. We were worried that it may be too hot and spicy but it was not! (A very good choice!)

the Belly Buster, a food trip platter good for 4-5

The ultimate combo of their famous barbecued babyback ribs, grilled rodeo chops and smoky pork belly, served with garlic rice, buttered vegetables and crispy onion rings. Choice of dip was barbeque and cranberry.

The barbecued baby back ribs was fine, I had to dip it in barbecue sauce to add more flavor. The pork belly and grilled pork chops was tasty and yummy! I was intrigue if the cranberry will compliment the chops (well, it worked).

the Banana Fanna, a dessert

a banana fritter with vanilla ice cream and toffee sauce, served with a banana “turrones’ staffed with sweet custard and jackfruit, then coated with choice nuts.

Sweet and satisfying, not bad at all.

The waiting period for this dessert took approximately 15-20 minutes after requesting for it.

Thank you also to Ensogo Philippines for letting me purchase a voucher worth P400 Gift Certificate to dine for food and drinks at Bigby’s for half the price! (P200).

Upon hearing news of Bon Chon’s entry into the Philippines early this year, and with all the good reviews, I was looking forward to stop by at one of their branches.

 Here are some facts about Bon Chon:

(1) Bonchon Chicken is a South Korean-based fried chicken franchise restaurant. (2) Korean fried chicken (or seasoned chicken) is a fried dish prepared by removing fat from the skin, seasoned with spices after being fried. Famous for being called “double fried chicken”. (3) It opened stores first in New York, United States before here in Manila, Philippines. (4) The chicken can be served as hot & spicy or based in soy garlic.

 We had a chance of having dinner earlier at Bon Chon Megamall and ordered the following:

The Caesar salad was fresh, crispy and tasty. The dressing compliments the salad well. However, it should be served in a bowl or plate instead of a plastic container which is ideal for take outs.

The (soy garlic based) 6-pc chicken wings was tasty on the outside. Unfortunately, I couldn’t say the same with the inside. Except for the coating, it was plain and normal and needed. A dip of spicy mayo only made it interesting.

I noticed that the Megamall branch is small. The tables and seats are set-up in a way that they are too close to each other. Instead of enjoying the meal, I was conscious of not making too much movement that may disturb the other customers in another table. I also noticed that customers stop eating abruptly from time to time because the tables easily move with the slightest nudge. I hope that Bon Chon Megamall can expand or gets a bigger space.

I heard a rumor that a new upcoming market will open here in the south. With the success of Mercato Centrale at Bonifacio Global City, the same organizers opened up Soderno @ Molito last November 18, 2011.

No need to travel to Taguig, Makati or Pasig to enjoy a delicious meal. Soderno @ Molito offers the best from the south with a wide selection of food (from pastries, grilled burgers, green tea ice cream, frankfurters, pizza and nacho’s et. al.), fashion, and arts and crafts. You may have your breakfast, lunch and dinner together with family and friends!

Soderno is located at the Molito Lifestyle Market Center in Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa City (more specifically along Madrigal Avenue and Commerce Avenue). You can also reach it by foot from Puregold Molito (less than 5 minutes).

I arrived early at 5:30pm yesterday and people were setting up. I proceeded with the first kiosk that offers vary of pastries (from oatmeal cookies to apple pies). Chef Kevin and the rest of the team were pleasant and friendly. They discussed with me the benefits of the ‘Incubator Kitchen’. For more details, you may click here. Soderno @ Molito on its 2nd night was a success and people were noticeably satisfied.  I too was overwhelmed with the various selection of delicacies. It took me longer to choose which food I will try out! O_o
